Going to Mysore, India changed my life. I arrived young & skinny, ready to soak up every ounce of the incredible energy that flooded the room.
We had an insane network of practitioners, all deeply engaged in the same stream of consciousness, pure focus, heat and effort.
There’s this idea in the modern world that yoga is meant to feel easy, but we practiced hard, and we were proud to give everything.
The intensity was mind-blowing. The sweat dripped from our bodies, flooded into pools on our mats, and absorbed into the timeless Indian carpets. I can only imagine the experiences those carpets witnessed over the years.
The room was so humid, condensation would drip from the walls like the room was literally sweating with us.
Every day was a new adventure — like living in a movie. It never failed to deliver. With every breath we took, the Mysore experience was right there for us to live…
When I met Sharathji it felt like we recognized each other — we were student & teacher from the moment I saw him. We both knew it.
He always saw me & he always supported me. He gave me everything I needed, and I never wanted anything more.
To be his student — and to assist him in the shala every year has been one of the greatest blessings of my life.
Every aspect of my approach to teaching has been guided by him in meticulous detail - every fear, anxiety, every moment of growth & every victory has been shared with him.
It has always been my intention as a teacher, to be a channel through which to pass on Ashtanga yoga exactly as he taught me — to give others what this practice has given me, and to teach with sincerity & devotion.

I WILL BE
ALWAYS A STUDENT
